offer FOUR watercolor landscape painting workshops in spring 2010
at a Passion for Painting Art Studio in St. George, Utah

"Winter Scenes in Watercolor"
This workshop will explore some fun ways to paint the landscape
in winter, including tips on accurately representing snow and winter

"Painting the Red Rocks of Southern Utah" Learn
to see and paint the effects of sunlight on sand, cliffs, and sky
in the canyon country. We will work outdoors part of the time and

Drawing
"Building Drawing Skills with a Sketchbook" Good
drawing is the basis for good painting. Learn to draw with power
by using the values we see in nature. Each student will receive
a hardbound sketchbook and 6B pencil which we will use both indoors

Drawing & Painting
"Plein Air Painting and Sketching" We will go
outdoors for this workshop (weather permitting) and work on location
using both sketchbook drawing and watercolor painting techniques.

5-Day Watercolor Painting Workshop "Canyons, Deserts, and Old
West Landscapes"

San Jose, California
We will focus on landscapes of the southwest
deserts and canyon country with an emphasis on how the strong
western sunlight and reflected light affects the way we see. We
will explore techniques for painting rocks, sand, and cliffs plus
textural effects for weathered old barns and wagons. In addition
we'll learn how to paint rich dramatic skies in less than five
minutes!

THE ST. GEORGE 2-DAY WORKSHOPS
Only 8 students are able
to take art lessons in Roland's 2-day painting classes in
order to allow ample time and space to work together. Typical
classes consist of teacher demonstrations, powerpoint discussions,
and actual painting time. This is a class for painters with
previous watercolor experience. A knowledge of basic watercolor
painting technique is assumed.
Time is 9-4 each day with a 1-hour lunch break (on your
own). Art Class fee is $150 due at reservation. You will
receive a full refund if cancellation notice is given 30-days
prior to class time. No refunds for cancellations after
that time.
