Story:
As you might guess, the windmill is the most outstanding landmark in the Dutch landscape. Since the country is relatively flat you can spot the windmills easily as you approach each city or town. This windmill painting reflects my memories of the big molen at Sint Maartensdijk, Zeeland, with its wide sails stretched against a big sunset sky. I've used a little artistic license with the scene as I attempted to capture the drama that I witnessed, not just at that location, but all over the Netherlands.
