This painting of the Kolob Canyons area of Zion National park was juried into the 2006 Arts for the Parks 20th Annual National Arts Competition and appeared in the second 100 exhibit at Jackson Wyoming. It also received several other awards at the St. George Art Festival before being shown at the George Art Museum April 2007 Canyon Country Paintings exhibit
A trip to the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park resulted in a series of studio paintings including this painting showing the immense cliff faces and resulting shadows in Zion's Kolob Fingers area at the end of the day.
