Story:
The Smith family crowded into this one and a half story log home for many years. Joseph's brother Alvin, an able carpenter started building the family a nice large frame home, but died before he could finish it. The family did finish the home and enjoyed it for only a short while before losing it again. It was in this log home, that Joseph Smith was visited by a Heavenly messenger who told him where to obtain the plates from which the Book of Mormon was eventually translated.
