Story:
Lake Powell is a favorite subject of mine. We spent many summers on a houseboat there over the years, and especially enjoyed exploring the shoreline. I never saw the land before the lake, so I have to imagine what it was like. But now, with the deep blue water lapping against the rugged sandstone cliffs, I have a hard time picturing it any other way. By studying with master painter David Drummond, who also houseboats on Lake Powell, I picked up his technique of handling the smooth glassy water unique to that lake. This painting typifies the scenes planted in my memory banks of many years spent staring with awe at that glossy water and those neon rocks.
