Story:

A short side trip from Rockville, Utah, on the road to Zion National Park, is the historic ghost town of Grafton. Settled by early Mormon pioneers, the town was ravaged by floods from the Virgin River and plagued by Indian attacks. Today a few buildings still stand to tell the tale, including an old adobe church and schoolhouse. On a recent trip to Grafton with the Sons of the Utah Pioneers group, we listened to JL Crawford relate stories of his childhood living in nearby Zion Canyon. His family had a farm where the Living History Museum now stands in Zion National Park. As he talked I watched the late afternoon sun light up the wall face of Mount Kinesava. This painting will always remind me of that peaceful night.
