This scene was inspired by a visit to the wonderful Openluchtmuseum at Arnhem Netherlands. The museum is an open air display of early life in Holland and includes numerous windmills, buildings, and historic reconstructions gathered from all over the Netherlands. This painting encapsulates our experiences in Holland; windmills, thatched roofs, flat-bottomed boats, and water everywhere!
